Telus to donate $25 to Breast Cancer Research for every Pink Blackberry Pearl 9100 and 8530 Curve Sold

As part of Telus’s “Go Pink” campaign, Telus will donate $25 to Breast Cancer research for every Pink Blackberry Peark 9100 and Pink Blackberry Curve 8530 sold.

The funds will go directly to purchase digital mammography machines for women in your local community.

The following hospitals are involved as partners in the campaign:

British Columbia’s Women’s Hospital & Health Centre Foundation
Alberta Cancer Foundation
Saskatchewan Cancer Agency

Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation (Toronto)
Ottawa Hospital Foundation
Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital (Montreal)

Double Digit Price Hikes for TD General Insurance and Many other Customers

Just when you thought driving in ontario couldn’t get more expensive, here’s the McGuinty government!

Late last month (April 2010), Dalton McGuinty’s government approved double digit insurance premium rate hikes by insurance companies.

Of the culprits, TD General Insurance received approval for the biggest hike, an insane 27.3%. If your insurance is through TD”s subsidiary company TD Meloche Monnex or Primmum, your rates will go up by 10.84%

With the cutbacks to spending on transit by the same Liberal government, we Ontarians might as well stay home as we won’t be able to afford travelling to work or anywhere else for that matter!

This won’t just affect auto insurance, it will also affect home owners, tenants insurance all other insurance products.

Customers of other insurance companies will also see an increase.

Aviva - 14%
COSECO – 10.53%
Pilot – 18.5%
Primmum (TD Meloche Monex) - 10.84%
Scottish & York – 20.1%
Soverign General – 11.16%

These rate hikes will take effect starting September 1st, 2010.

Blackberry Desktop Manager 6.0 Images

Pictures of the upcoming version of Blackberry Desktop Manager were found on bbnews.pl a couple of days ago. From all indications, there aren’t sweeping changes in the functions or features of the software, but there are couple of nice additions. Two features stand out.

1. Podcast (No specific information as to what this does)

2. Media Card memory info (self explanatory)

I’d imagine version 6.0 of the Blackberry desktop software should be available to the public in the very near future.

In response to Telus’s promotion from a few days ago, the other Big 2 carriers have decided to match the promotion.

Telus offered new clients 6 months of unlimited local calling, free calling on early nights and weekends starting at 6pm (regularly $7/month) and free activation ($35 fee).

That offer is now available at Bell, Fido and Rogers for new clients signing new 3 year contracts.

Officially, this offer is not available for existing clients looking to renew their contracts.

New Blackberry Messenger Version Leaked

Version 5.0.0.65 of Balckberry Messenger has been leaked and is available for download on the web.

Most users won’t see any noticeable change between the current official version (5.0.0.57) and the new leaked version. This is for those who want the latest.
