It’s commonly caused by a corrupt e-mail message and it’s incredibly annoying.

Many help sites and forums suggest a full reset (where you would have to wipe the contents of the device) or deleting the e-mail account and re-adding it.

I’ve detailed instructions on how this issue can be eliminated by a few steps.

1. Go to Settings and switch Airplane Mode to ON.

2. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendar

3. Set Preview to NONE.

3. Set the Minimum Font Size to SMALL.

4. Go to your Mail and your Inbox and press EDIT.

5. Click on the first email message (Commonly, the first email is the problem email) on the first screen and hit DELETE.

6. Close the Mail App.

7. Turn Airplane Mode back to OFF.

8. Open Mail and it should be fine.
(If the problem is not fixed, you will have to repeat step 5 and try to delete more e-mails as the problem email has not been deleted and still needs to be eliminated.)

Here are the requirements of the Spirit jailbreak:

Ok, so it’s not Blackberry Messenger for iPhone, but it’s the closest thing. What’s App is an instant messaging client for iPhones and Blackberry smartphones.

WhatsApp is a smartphone-to-smartphone messenger/chat application. WhatsApp allows you to carry on a conversation in real time with your mobile contacts without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is currently available for iPhone and BlackBerry and yes, iPhone and BlackBerry owners can message each other!

I’ve been using it for a while now, and I must admit it’s a pretty neat application.

It’s $0.99 USD for the iPhone and $2.99 USD for the Blackberry.

1. Turn ON and connect to WiFi.
2. Setup the Videotron e-mail using Videotron ‘s outgoing mail server as SMTP (relais.videotron.ca).
3. Test in and out going e-mail using Videotron e-mail account on WiFi.
4. Turn OFF WiFi
5. Add secondary outgoing mail servers.

1. Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
2. Click on the e-mail account that was setup in step 1.
3. Click on the Hostname (relais.videotron.ca) under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
4. Click on “Add Server…” under Other SMTP Servers Example:
   Hostname: relais.videotron.ca
   Username: blank
   Password: blank
   SSL: Off
   Port: 25

6. Add smtp.telus.net as an Other SMTP server (You will have 2 records of relais.videotron.ca — Primary and Other)

1. Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
2. Click on the e-mail account that was setup in step 1.
3. Click on the Hostname (smtp.telus.net) under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
4. Click on “Add Server…” under Other SMTP Servers Example:
   Hostname: smtp.telus.net
   Username: blank

   SSL: Off
   Port: 25

7. The KEY STEP! Turn the Primary Server — OFF
   You should now have multiple “Other STMP Servers” with the ON status and the Primary SMTP server status must be OFF!
8. Test using WiFi ON and OFF and you should be able to send/receive e-mails without problems!

Apple has released an OS update for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

The newst version, 3.1.3 (7E18), will replace current OS versions on all models of iPhone and iPod touch devices.

The update is available automatically through  iTunes.

• A person with physical access to a locked device may be able to access the user’s data
• Accessing a maliciously crafted FTP server could result in an unexpected application termination, information disclosure, or arbitrary code execution
• Mail may load remote audio and video content when remote image loading is disabled.

Presently isolated within the Netherlands, this outbreak may spread further still, as it is capable of infecting other jailbroken iPhones on the same WiFi network.
