Blackberry Messenger 5 Officially Released
Research in Motion officially released a stable version of Blackberry Messenger 5.0. “Leaked” versions of BBM 5.0 have been available online for weeks, but this is the first OFFICIAL release to the public from RIM.
For those who were weary to install a “leaked” version, can now download the new BB messenger to Smartphone without any fear.
Like any other software installation on a Blackberry, we advise you to perform a full backup before you start the update.
You can downlaod via Blackberry App world.
You can also download over-the-air at http://www.blackberry.com/messenger (in your Blackberry’s Web Browser).
To use BlackBerry Messenger, you’ll need:
- A data service plan from your wireless service provider
- A BlackBerry smartphone with 64 MB of memory
- 2.4MB of available smartphone memory
- BlackBerry® Device Software v4.5 or later

It’s available for download at the link below.
You must have a Blackberry with OS 4.2 or later. (Anything in the 8000 and 9000 series).
You can now:
- Synchronize Contacts, Calendar Appointments, Tasks and Notes (just like the PC counterpart)
- Backup and Restore you device.
- Sync your iTunes Media with Blackberry Media Sync.
- Perform Software Updates for your Blackberry
