Watch Rogers Cable TV on a PC
According to reports, Rogers will soon offer its clients the ability to watch Rogers Cable TV programming on their computer.
The service is currently offered by US cable operators, Comcast and Time Warner, branded “TV Anywhere”.
Here’s the article with the details:
A US-based technology company announced it is working with Rogers Cable on a new online video initiative.
Known as the Platform, the company, a subsidiary of Comcast, supports the ability to offer ‘TV Everywhere’ services, on behalf of cable operators and content distributors, via Web portals and website/cable modem integration.
Meanwhile, Rogers Communication has announced a press event to be held next week, at which it will unveil what’s being called the “Next Big Thing in Television.”
Rogers has declined to provide additional information, but at industry events in the United States, and during hearings in Ottawa held by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commissions (CRTC), its executives have spoken of the promise and potential of alternative platforms for TV content delivery,
As described by Rogers senior vice president David Purdy at the Multichannel News/B&C OnScreen Media Summit last month, the operator will offer video content for no extra change to its 2.3 million subscribers from 15 networks, including those Rogers itself or in partnership owns, such as Citytv and Sportsnet, A&E, Bio and G4 Canada.
