Wind Mobile now in Ottawa

Wind Mobile officially went live with their wireless services in Ottawa on Friday.

Ottawa is the fourth city, along with Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton where Wind Mobile currently offers wireless service.

Wind is slowly building their national wireless network one city at a time, and hope to have Vancouver as the next city up and running in their schedule.

They offer three voice plans, the most popular being $45/month for Unlimited Talk and Text anywhere in Canada within Wind’s Home Zone and $35/month for Unlimited Data.

Wind Mobile is the startup wireless provider owned by Orascom, an Egyptian company in the middle of the battle to change Canada’s foreign ownership law.

Wind Mobile had hoped to attract clients by offering unlimited voice and data plans without contracts. While they have attracted clients over the few months of their young existence, the Big 3 incumbents, Bell, Rogers and Telus with their 3 year contracts and early contract termination fees, still have a strong hold over the wireless market.
